Job summary

Rippling is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the Emerging Products platform. You’ll design backend services, APIs and platform primitives powering spending, IT, identity, and security workflows at scale.

You will collaborate across product, frontend, platform and design teams, shipping complex projects, applying CS fundamentals and strong systems thinking. This role is based in New York, NY with an in-office focus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a production environment using Python, Django, or related technologies.
• Frontend development experience with React or TypeScript.
• Exposure to systems operating at significant scale and complexity.
• Strong product intuition and user-centric thinking.
• Experience shipping complex projects across multi-team environments.
• Solid CS fundamentals and problem solving.
• Strong communication with stakeholders across product, design, and engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve backend services and APIs for critical product capabilities.
• Build reliable, secure, and scalable systems for high-volume workflows across Spend, IT, identity, access, approvals, and compliance.
• Translate ambiguous business needs into robust technical solutions with cross-functional partners.
• Lead system design reviews, code reviews, and push for engineering best practices.
• Help create unified product experiences that replace fragmented solutions for managing employees, spend, devices, apps, and access.
