Job summary

Obsidian is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-scale platform powering digital experiences used by millions daily. You will own backend services across Node.js, TypeScript, and Rust, building robust APIs and highly reliable data pipelines for production workloads.

Collaborate across teams (UX, Product, Analytics), design REST and GraphQL interfaces, contribute to CI/CD, and integrate AI capabilities where appropriate.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems at a high-scale organization.
• Hands-on production coding experience in Node.js and TypeScript on the backend.
• Rust production experience in performance-critical modules or systems work.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of scoped features through collaborative engineering teams.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain services in Node.js, TypeScript, and Rust across the full lifecycle and CI/CD.
• Build and optimize server-to-server integrations and API layers (REST and GraphQL).
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into product services and improve engineering productivity.
• Mentor peers and promote engineering excellence across the team.
