Job summary

Sunbit is seeking a Sr. Backend Engineer in Jersey City (Hybrid) to design, build, and maintain the core platform supporting our call center operations and agent desktop.

You will develop automation, AI-powered workflows, and integrations across multiple systems to boost agent effectiveness and customer satisfaction. The role emphasizes scalable backend engineering, reliability, and fast-paced problem solving in fintech.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, or Scala and hands-on implementation.
• Familiarity with the Spring Framework.
• Proficiency with both relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with microservice architecture and message queues (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ).
• Strong problem-solving and independent working style.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve the Customer Success agent desktop and core backend platform.
• Develop tools and integrations connecting systems used by the Customer Success organization.
• Improve productivity and efficiency through automation and AI-driven workflows.
• Address high-impact platform challenges at scale.
• Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and Operations to improve agent and customer experience.
• Ensure reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems.
• Write clean, well-tested code and maintain observability.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production deployment.
• Contribute to a strong engineering culture and mentoring teammates.
