Job summary

ev.energy is hiring experienced backend engineers to build scalable, reliable Python services using Django and related frameworks. You will own backend systems, shape architecture, and ship AI-powered features with fast iteration cycles.

We value deep backend craft, ownership, and collaboration with product and commercial teams. This role is fully remote in the UK, with on-site opportunities at testing sites as applicable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python backend development with production systems.
• Experience building backend services using Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Flask).
• Proven track record delivering AI-powered features in production.
• Strong APIs, data modelling, system design, and reliability fundamentals.
• Experience leading technical decisions and influencing direction without formal authority.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with product and business stakeholders.
• High bias for action and comfort with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own backend services and APIs powering the product.
• Make architectural decisions balancing speed, maintainability and scale.
• Take ownership of significant technical areas and ship in production.
• Leverage AI coding tools as a core daily practice to deliver backend features.
• Collaborate with product, design, and commercial teams to translate problems into technical solutions.
• Champion high-quality engineering and contribute to a culture of experimentation.
