Job summary

FIS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of scalable software solutions in a hybrid work model across Chicago, Milwaukee, Atlanta and Jacksonville. You will contribute to a modern tech stack including Java, Spring Boot, Micronaut, RESTful APIs, microservices and cloud-native environments.

In this role, you will mentor teammates, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and help drive innovation in fintech.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering in SaaS or FinTech preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, software engineering, or related field preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Micronaut with RESTful APIs and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of high-quality software solutions.
• Engage in full-stack development from backend to frontend UX, with microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and QA to bring features to market.
• Analyze complex technical problems and propose robust, scalable solutions.
• Uphold coding standards, security and best practices; conduct code reviews and promote improvements.

As a Senior Software Engineer, your day will be filled with exciting challenges and opportunities to shape the future of financial technology. You’ll collaborate with a talented team of engineers and play a crucial role in developing cutting‑edge solutions that drive innovation in the financial sector. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing scalable software, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing to the overall success of our products.

WHAT WE’LL TRUST YOU TO DELIVER:

• Take the lead in developing, and delivering high‑quality software solutions. Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Engage in full‑stack development, from backend systems to user interfaces. Work with technologies such as Java, Javascript and Typescript, RESTful API integrations, microservices and event‑driven architecture.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, and QA engineers, to bring innovative features and products to market. Participate in agile development processes to deliver results efficiently.
• Analyze complex technical problems and propose effective solutions. Be proactive in identifying areas for improvement and optimizing existing systems for performance and reliability.
• Uphold high standards of code quality, security, and best practices. Conduct code reviews and contribute to the establishment and adherence to coding standards.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. Contribute to the company’s technological roadmap by introducing innovative ideas and solutions.

WHAT YOU LIKELY BRING TO THE TABLE:

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on SaaS or FinTech, is preferred.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Micronaut expertise , with a deep understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis , and cloud‑native environments (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git) and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and other similar project management tools is a plus!
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems. A track record of delivering robust and scalable software solutions.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment and contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
• A passion for innovation and a keen interest in staying ahead of the curve with emerging technologies (like AI-assisted development tools**)**. Proven ability to contribute to the development of forward‑thinking solutions.

The pay range for this full‑time position is $122,820.00 - $208,790.00 USD Annual and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
