Job summary

Sameday is seeking a visionary Senior Backend Engineer to lead the architecture and development of our AI-driven scheduling agents. You will design scalable backend systems, oversee data pipelines, and ensure real-time responsiveness in a distributed, cloud-based environment.

You will own RESTful API design, integration patterns, and performance optimizations while collaborating closely with the CEO/founder to accelerate innovation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience, with strong Python skills.
• Proven track record in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architectures (AWS).
• Solid SQL, ORM knowledge; MongoDB experience; vector databases a plus.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and securing services.
• Ability to drive architecture from concept to implementation autonomously.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a visionary Senior Backend Engineer to lead the architecture and development of our AI-driven scheduling agents. As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in developing the core infrastructure that powers our AI solutions. Leveraging your expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, and cloud-based architectures, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable and robust backend systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Development Leadership: Act as a lead for the backend development function, collaborating effectively with the CEO/founder to accelerate progress and innovation.
• System Architecture: Design and develop scalable backend systems to support our AI-driven scheduling agents, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Data Pipeline Development: Build robust data ingestion, preprocessing, and feature engineering pipelines to enable efficient training and inference of AI models.
• API Development: Create and optimize RESTful APIs for seamless integration with frontend systems and third-party services.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize backend systems for performance and scalability to handle large-scale data and ensure real-time responsiveness.
• Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in backend development, distributed systems, and AI to drive continuous improvement and maintain a competitive edge.

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years (desired: 9+ years) of experience in backend software development with a strong proficiency in Python.
• Technical Expertise: Strong experience in building and optimizing distributed systems, integrations, microservices, and cloud-based architectures (AWS preferred).
• Database Skills: Strong understanding of database systems, SQL, and ORM architectures. Experience with MongoDB and vector databases is a plus.
• API Development: Experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs (FastAPI, OpenAPI to Typescript frontend) and implementing security best practices.
• Product Development: Demonstrated ability to autonomously drive architecture from concept to implementation.

Salary

$135,000 - $155,000 per month
