Job summary

Weave is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and own the identity and access management substrate powering our healthcare platform. You will lead the shift to a modern IAM, leverage SpiceDB and Go, and help establish a regional India hub while collaborating with the US team.

You’ll drive secure authN/AuthZ, scalable services, and developer tooling for 150+ engineers, ensuring high reliability and auditable identity data across the stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of AuthN/AuthZ primitives.
• Experience building gRPC-based microservices.

Responsibilities

• Own core identity services for authenticating every entity.
• Define fine-grained authorization for a multi-tenant hierarchy.
• Develop internal SDKs, gRPC contracts, and middleware for 150+ downstream engineers.
• Manage federation standards: SSO, SCIM, and secure machine-to-machine communication.
• Improve observability and runbooks for Tier-1 services to reduce incidents.
• Lead the India hub technical bar and coordinate asynchronous collaboration with US teams.
