Parts Town is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to design and optimize scalable microservices powering our eCommerce and enterprise platforms. You will drive backend architecture, API design, and event-driven systems, using Node.js, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless tech.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend system design, eCommerce, and distributed applications.
• Expert in Node.js and TypeScript with cloud-native platforms (Azure preferred).
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis), microservices, event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS).
• Familiar with REST, GraphQL APIs; testing (Jest, Mocha, Pact) and CI/CD (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), Kubernetes, serverless, and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Backend Architecture: design scalable cloud-native microservices across platforms.
• Implementation & Best Practices: use Node.js/TypeScript, API-first design, event-driven styles.
• Engineering Standards: establish CI/CD, automated testing, service communication patterns.
• Operational Practices: define observability, logging, disaster recovery strategies.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: work with frontend, DevOps, and data teams to optimize APIs.
