Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Principal Back-End CAD Engineer – Physical Implementation & AI in Austin, TX. You will own FlowJam, our Back-End CAD flow, working with Physical Design teams to advance synthesis, place-and-route, timing, power, and productivity for multiple ASIC programs.

The role emphasizes automation, AI-driven optimization, and scalable infrastructure. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in Physical Design/Back-End CAD, strong proficiency with Synopsys/Cadence tools, and leadership skills

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Physical Design or Back-End CAD or methodology.
• Expertise in synthesis, floorplanning, placement, clock-tree synthesis, routing, timing closure, power optimization.
• Proven experience with advanced technology nodes and RTL-to-GDS flows.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and evolution of FlowJam, the Back-End CAD flow framework.
• Collaborate with Physical Design teams across multiple ASIC programs.
• Develop and optimize synthesis, P&R, timing closure, power, and signoff methodologies.
• Drive QoR, runtime, scalability, and productivity improvements.
• Define automation frameworks and evaluate next-gen EDA capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and shape the long-term CAD roadmap.
