Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Azure Databricks Administrator to join our Cloud, Data & AI practice. This role focuses on administration, governance, security, optimization, and operational support of enterprise-scale Azure Databricks environments.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure networking, security, data governance, and platform operations, partnering with engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure a scalable and secure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting cloud-based data and analytics platforms.
• Hands-on experience administering Azure Databricks in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency with Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure Data Factory, and ADLS Gen2.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, RBAC/IAM, governance and data security.
• Experience with SCIM-based identity provisioning and CI/CD workflows.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and administer Azure Databricks workspaces with secure connectivity.
• Maintain cluster policies, Databricks Runtime versions, autoscaling, and workload management.
• Optimize performance via tuning and Delta Lake best practices.
• Plan capacity and forecast resources for enterprise growth.
• Drive cost optimization including right-sizing and reserved/spot instances.
• Troubleshoot platform, cluster, and connectivity issues.
• Design and administer Unity Catalog metastores and governance controls.
• Implement secure secret management with Azure Key Vault and Entra ID security.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
