Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in the United States (Phoenix area) is seeking an experienced Azure Cosmos DB Developer to design, implement, and support large-scale Cosmos DB applications on Azure.

The role emphasizes high-throughput, always-on solutions, data modeling, partitioning, indexing, and disaster recovery. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to performance optimization and operational runbooks.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering and database development experience.
• 3+ years hands-on Azure Cosmos DB experience in production environments.
• Strong experience with Cosmos DB data modeling and partitioning strategies
• Query optimization and performance tuning
• Throughput management (RU/s optimization)
• Indexing policies and change feed processing
• Multi-region deployment and global distribution
• High availability and disaster recovery patterns
• Monitoring and observability tools
• Experience supporting high-volume, always-on enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with Azure services such as Functions, App Services, AKS, Event Hubs, Service Bus, and Application Insights.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize Cosmos DB solutions for high-volume workloads.
• Define data modeling, partition key design, indexing, and data lifecycle management.
• Architect highly available, resilient, and scalable Cosmos DB solutions.
• Monitor RU consumption, throughput, latency, and overall performance.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize bottlenecks.
• Support deployments, schema evolution, capacity planning, and incident resolution.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and architecture teams.
• Establish disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies.
• Create runbooks, documentation, and engineering standards.
• Provide cost optimization recommendations and long-term platform improvements.
