Job summary

Grand Canyon Law Group seeks an experienced criminal defense attorney to lead local matters in Tucson and Southern Arizona. You will manage felony and misdemeanor caseload with autonomy, backed by a dedicated paralegal and firm infrastructure.

You will practice high-level defense, travel to Southern Arizona courts, build client relationships, and contribute to growth while following firm case-management standards.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar in Arizona
• Minimum of five years of criminal defense and/or criminal prosecution experience
• Experience handling Arizona felony and misdemeanor matters
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills
• Excellent legal judgment
• Ability to manage a full caseload across multiple jurisdictions
• Willingness to travel throughout Southern Arizona
• Proficiency with Clio or another legal case-management system
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and legal research platforms

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in felony and misdemeanor criminal matters from initial appearance through trial or final resolution
• Lead counsel on assigned cases based on experience and complexity
• Independently evaluate cases and develop defense strategies
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, memoranda, and pleadings
• Prepare for and conduct evidentiary hearings, bench trials, jury trials, and sentencing proceedings
• Negotiate with prosecutors while maintaining professional relationships
• Maintain client communications and case notes in Clio
• Collaborate with a dedicated paralegal and legal leadership on strategy
• Contribute to developing regional practice and leadership as opportunities arise
