Job summary

Principal Financial Group seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Non-Qualified Retirement IT Experience Product Family. You will partner with product managers and engineers to articulate architectural vision and guide technical direction to align with business outcomes.

This role emphasizes scalable, secure, and resilient solutions while empowering teams to deliver value efficiently. You will translate complex business needs into actionable technical roadmaps and mentor engineering staff.

Qualifications

6+ years in a computer science/engineering role or equivalent experience.
Proven ability to influence others through formal/informal leadership.
4+ years of software solutioning and design experience.
4+ years of experience with AWS (open to others).

Responsibilities

Translate business objectives into technical solutions.
Define and evolve solution architectures aligning product strategy and enterprise standards.
Provide technical leadership across multiple applications, services and platforms.
Mentor engineers and tech leads to deliver scalable, secure systems.
Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
