Job summary

Synstack Technologies is seeking a hands-on contractor to own AWS infrastructure and production reliability for on-site work in Los Angeles. The role emphasizes owning infrastructure delivery, automation, troubleshooting, and production support for data platforms.

Required are 7+ years in infrastructure/SRE with Terraform, Linux networking, containers, and scripting. Strong focus on cost optimization, security, and recovery processes to maintain reliable operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering.
• AWS production ownership: networking, IAM, compute, storage, and databases.
• Terraform: modules, remote state, environment separation, drift management, safe changes.
• Production reliability: incident response, RCAs, monitoring, alerting, SLOs.
• Linux and networking: DNS, TLS, routing, load balancing, connectivity.
• Containers & deployment: Docker, Git, CI/CD, rollback procedures.
• Automation: Python and shell scripting for infra ops.
• Security & recovery: least-privilege, backups, DR testing.

Responsibilities

• Own infrastructure delivery end-to-end for assigned data platforms.
• Implement automation to reduce manual toil and improve resilience.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Provide production support and operational visibility for services.
• Collaborate with data engineers to ensure reliable data workflows.
