Job summary

KBR is seeking a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to design, automate, modernize, and operate secure, scalable AWS environments supporting mission-critical workloads. You will work with architects, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to migrate legacy apps, build reusable cloud patterns, and improve CI/CD, with hands-on leadership and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of cloud engineering/devops/related roles.
• 5+ years hands-on DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure operations.
• Strong experience with AWS production workloads and security.
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK).
• Experience with configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Deep knowledge of container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/ECS).
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration and modernization of legacy applications to AWS using secure, scalable patterns.
• Design, deploy, and operate AWS environments for development to production workloads.
• Collaborate with architects to align platform designs with modernization roadmaps and security standards.
• Engineer cloud-native solutions using AWS services (S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch).
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation.
• Build reusable IaC modules, templates, and deployment guardrails.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, auditing, patching, and deprovisioning.
• Design and operate CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/GitHub Actions) and deployment strategies (blue/green, canary).
• Support containerized workloads with Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/ECS, Helm.
• Implement or support GitOps with ArgoCD/Flux where appropriate.
• Establish secure guardrails for identity, secrets, encryption, logging, and access control.
• Ensure compliance with FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST controls across platforms.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, auditors, and stakeholders; maintain runbooks and dashboards.
• Mentor junior/mid engineers and document technical designs for leadership and customers.
