Job summary

ActioNet, Inc. seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer SME to lead the design, implementation, and operation of secure, scalable AWS environments in a hybrid Suitland, MD/DC area. This role requires deep AWS expertise and strong Python development.

You will work with systems architects, application teams, and data engineers to translate modernization strategy into deployable cloud solutions, IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and governance-compliant migrations. Hybrid schedule; U.S. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years hands-on AWS design/implementation experience.
• Strong experience with AWS networking, compute, storage, security, databases, containers, and serverless.
• Advanced Python development with production-quality coding, testing, logging, and secure practices.
• Experience assessing legacy apps/infrastructure for cloud migration and modernization.
• Understanding of migration strategies, CI/CD, and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Strong documentation, communication, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in discovery and assessment of legacy applications, infrastructure, dependencies, and data flows.
• Document current-state architectures, inventories, readiness gaps, and constraints.
• Evaluate workloads using migration frameworks and contribute to roadmaps and modernization waves.
• Design and implement secure, scalable AWS cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.
• Establish repeatable cloud environment patterns for dev/test/prod.
• Implement AWS security controls, resiliency, backup, and DR.
