Job summary

Everforth ECS in Arlington, VA is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud / Cyber Range Engineer to support a federal cybersecurity training environment. The role emphasizes cloud operations, automation, security, and compliance within a hybrid workspace.

You will oversee AWS infrastructure, create and maintain AMIs, and drive IaC practices while collaborating with government stakeholders to meet security and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure, cloud, systems, or platform engineering experience
• 4+ years hands-on AWS engineering or operations experience
• Experience operating production AWS environments
• Strong AWS services experience (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, EBS)
• Experience creating, maintaining, and deploying AMIs
• Experience Windows/Linux server administration
• Experience scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible)
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Familiarity with federal cybersecurity requirements and security controls
• Ability to manage a technical environment independently while collaborating with stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize an AWS-hosted cybersecurity training and virtual lab environment
• Maintain platform availability, security, and reliability for instructors and students
• Manage AWS infrastructure including compute, networking, storage, IAM, monitoring, and security services
• Develop, test, and deploy AMIs and lab components
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and teardown of lab environments
• Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration management
• Monitor health, capacity, performance, and security; troubleshoot issues
• Support security posture and ATO requirements; address KEVs and POA&Ms
• Coordinate with training developers, vendors, and government stakeholders
• Document architecture, procedures, and engineering decisions
