Job Description
The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer will be a vital member of the Cloud Architecture team, responsible for creating and supporting architecture and systems within the Stride AWS Cloud environment. The selected candidate will provide technical expertise and design recommendations to optimize the performance of our AWS cloud footprint. They will collaborate with architecture, security, and compliance teams to streamline processes related to shared concerns such as cloud costs, end-of-life systems, patch management, disaster recovery, and resource tagging, among others.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Work with development teams to design and implement cloud technologies within the parameters of Stride Governance policies.
- Document and maintain cloud infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations for building new solutions within the AWS platform.
- Set up, configure, and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc., for shared systems.
- Collaborate closely with the architecture team to ensure compliance of new solutions implemented in AWS.
- Provide guidance to the development teams for daily cloud systems support and troubleshooting activities.
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient processes and architecture improvements for managing shared systems and concerns through scripting, automation, and reporting.
- Assist in troubleshooting shared concerns and systems using data extraction and analysis via AWS scripting and tooling.
- Implement security best practices to protect cloud environments and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Create and maintain proper documentation, including system architecture diagrams and process documentation.
- Investigate, analyze, and assist with optimizing cloud resources (IOPS, CPU/EC2s, Memory, Storage/S3) for cost savings, performance, and reliability.
- Build and test prototypes of new AWS services and features to validate technical suitability for improving existing systems and preparing for new solutions.
- Participate in cloud architecture planning sessions and contribute to the development of cloud strategies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in designing, implementing, and supporting AWS Cloud-based infrastructure and Linux systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or equivalent.
- Passion for analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous learning in cloud technologies.
- Expertise in AWS cloud technologies, architecture principles, security, and compliance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with AWS services and networking.
- Background in Linux and Windows systems.
- Scripting experience with AWS CLI / SDKs in Linux or Windows.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Knowledge of source code control and automated deployment tools.
- Understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, HTTP).
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with performance testing, monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, New Relic).
- Experience designing application workloads in AWS and cloud optimization.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery solutions in AWS.
- Ability to pass a background check.

- Experience with git source control commands/tools.
- Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $81,045.75 - $201,088.80, with potential bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
