Job summary

Newnovation is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect/Technical Architect in Alameda, CA, offering a hybrid work model with three on-site days per week. The role focuses on leading cloud and platform engineering, shaping scalable AWS environments, and driving automation and cost optimization.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years IT experience, 8+ years in AWS/cloud domains, and strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide teams and stakeholders toward secure, resilient solutions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of overall IT experience including 8+ years in AWS/Cloud Engineering, Cloud Architecture, Platform Engineering, or DevOps.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale AWS environments with security, governance, and cost controls.
• Leadership in cloud initiatives, mentoring teams, and translating business needs into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to Cloud/Platform Engineering teams.
• Design, implement, and optimize AWS cloud platforms using EKS, ECS, EC2, and containerized workloads.
• Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules and IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
• Manage AWS services including S3, Lambda, IAM, ECR, Route 53, SSM, Cognito, Secrets Manager, and AWS Control Tower.
• Build automation to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency.
• Establish cloud governance, security, reliability, performance, and cost optimization standards using Well-Architected principles.
• Troubleshoot production issues, improve monitoring, and mentor engineering teams.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
