Job summary

Rocket Lab USA in Long Beach, California is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer I - Avionics & Test to lead hands-on debugging and optimize manufacturing processes for avionics systems.

You will partner with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability, own production lines, drive yield improvements, and troubleshoot complex issues, with a focus on ramping production safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years in Manufacturing/Process Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on debugging of electro-mechanical and avionics systems.
• Ability to manage multiple complex assignments autonomously.
• Strong documentation and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare feasibility studies and R&D projects for manufacturing tech.
• Incorporate Design for Manufacture to ensure robustness at scale.
• Engineer and deliver factories: design, procure, install, validate processes.
• Support development builds to accelerate ramp-up and learning.
• Own production lines to improve yield and efficiency.
• Diagnose failures with deep technical investigations and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues.
• Drive process improvements across manufacturing, test and integration.
