Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Systems Engineer for the Aftermarket Systems team. You will develop retrofit solutions for Collins-equipped aircraft and support fielded solutions, delivering impact across the global fleet today.

You will learn how avionics architectures are designed, integrated, and validated, and how systems engineering processes are applied from concept through delivery in a dynamic, mentoring-focused environment.

Qualifications

• STEM degree with 5+ years relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Prior systems experience with Collins Aerospace or commercial avionics is preferred.
• Experience in an integration lab, test facility, or field support for integration/verification efforts.
• Ability to manage tasks and meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Develop system-level requirements by analyzing customer specs and market needs.
• Design solutions meeting future airspace and mandate requirements.
• Perform analyses, architecture exploration, and trade studies considering performance, cost and risk.
• Lead system integration activities, create interface definitions, verify behavior against requirements.
• Plan and execute verification/validation, develop tests and analyze data.
• Identify technical or schedule risks and work with engineers on mitigations.
• Support on-aircraft installation of avionics updates and ground/flight testing.
• Maintain system configuration and documentation throughout the lifecycle.
