Job summary

Science and Technology Corporation (STC) seeks a Senior Avionics & Payload Systems Engineer for on-site work at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, CA. You will develop and integrate avionics and payload systems, support verification and flight readiness, and ensure compliance with security requirements for DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Science; 4+ years experience or Advanced degree; 0+ years more with higher degree.
• Experience generating electrical schematics and interface control drawings.
• Experience in design, integration, and testing of avionics and electronic systems.
• Experience with AC and DC power control systems.
• Experience integrating avionics interfaces ARINC-429, PCM, RS-422/485, and Ethernet.
• Experience performing system verification and validation testing.
• Cisco CLI proficiency.
• Network traffic monitoring and management experience.
• Hardware and software troubleshooting in complex aerospace systems.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Translate project requirements into functional hardware and software solutions for avionics and payload systems.
• Decompose system requirements into subsystem electrical, avionics, and software requirements.
• Prepare interface control drawings, electrical schematics, wiring designs, and system documentation.
• Design sensor and system interfaces to avionics systems and ground systems.
• Specify and evaluate components for procurement and reliability.
• Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot, upgrade, and repair avionics and payload systems.
• Support lab checkout, integration, and testing from concept to flight readiness.
• Provide operational support during ground and flight tests and mission execution.
