Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Principal Systems Engineer in Cedar Rapids to lead architecture, design, and integration of mission- and safety-critical networking for advanced avionics platforms.

You will act as the technical authority for networking across programs, translating requirements into interfaces and driving lab integration, testing, and validation with cross-functional teams. A STEM degree and 8+ years or an advanced degree with 5+ years are expected.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• End-to-end systems engineering: requirements, design, integration, V&V, deployment.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems and network interfaces (Ethernet, ARINC, CAN).

Responsibilities

• Architect deterministic Ethernet-based networks for safety-critical avionics.
• Serve as technical authority on networking across programs.
• Translate network requirements into system architecture and interfaces.
• Lead system-level integration, testing, and verification in lab environments.
• Mentor engineers across hardware, software, and firmware teams.
