Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking an Avionics Mechanical Engineer to own complex electronics packaging and act as the technical lead for ruggedized assemblies used in launch vehicles and spacecraft. You will oversee design architectures, perform advanced thermal and vibration analyses, and guide junior engineers through the full product lifecycle.

Qualified candidates bring 5+ years in aerospace/a defense packaging, NX CAD proficiency, and a proven ability to translate concepts into qualified

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years in high‑reliability electronics packaging/EO assemblies.
3D CAD design with NX preferred and GD&T proficiency; track record from concept to qualification/production.

Responsibilities

Lead design and architecture of ruggedized electronics packaging and structural components for PCB assemblies.
Design and optimize electro‑mechanical assemblies for extreme thermal/dynamic environments with EMI/EMC and radiation resistance.
Perform and review thermal analyses (steady-state, transient, cycling) of electronics in space.
Perform and review modal, random vibration, and shock analyses to ensure launch survivability.
Oversee test fixture and GSE design for launch vehicle electronics.
Drive environmental test campaigns (vibration, shock, TVAC) for qualification/acceptance.
Create CAD models and drawings; lead PDR/CDR and brief leadership.
Coordinate with PCB design to set mounting strategies and thermal management.
