Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a Senior Avionics Installation Technician in Salem, OR, to lead and mentor teams while installing complex avionics systems in FAR part 23, 25, 27, and 29 aircraft.

The role involves troubleshooting, documentation, and collaborating with Engineering to verify installations. Typical duties include preparing wiring harnesses, verifying panel layouts, and ensuring compliance with FAA paperwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years avionics experience related to general aviation aircraft.
• Minimum of 10 years general aviation, maintenance or avionics experience and/or equivalent combination of education, military aviation experience and/or aviation related experience.
• Experience installing avionics systems in piston, turbine and turbojet aircraft.
• Ability to read and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and advanced system integration.
• Knowledge of FAA regulations relating to avionics installations, testing requirements and paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Develop documentation and best practices for new avionics systems and collaborate with management/customers to exceed certification standards.
• Modify complex aircraft installations to accommodate panel and remote-mounted avionics equipment.
• Prepare new aircraft wiring harnesses per engineering drawings and installation documents.
• Troubleshoot avionics installation interconnects and collaborate with Engineering on new documentation.
• Mentor and serve as Avionics Inspector for Repair Station and support aircraft paperwork and compliance.
