Job summary

Varda Space Industries seeks a Senior Avionics Hardware Development Engineer to design flight-critical electrical hardware for satellite buses, reentry vehicles, and payloads. You will own the hardware domain from schematic capture through flight qualification and define safe operating criteria.

You will collaborate with flight software, thermal, GNC, and structures teams, perform fault analysis, and mentor junior engineers while advancing Varda’s in-space infrastructure programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of direct experience in electronics hardware development.
• Flight-critical electrical hardware design experience—from schematic capture to environmental qualification.
• Demonstrable knowledge of signal integrity, power and grounding/layout principles.
• Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, benchtop DMMs, and power supplies.

Responsibilities

• PCB level electronics design across lifecycle stages from schematic to manufacturing test.
• Distill high level objectives into subsystem requirements and milestones.
• Avionics SME for satellite, reentry vehicle, and payload hardware; support cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with flight software, thermal, GNC, and structures to assess design impacts.
• Own product acceptance and qualification tests for space environments with support from test teams.
• Define system-level integration test plans and verify hardware performance at vehicle level.
• Perform root cause analysis on test failures and implement mitigations.
• Mentor junior engineers and set high standards for future leaders.
