Job summary

Southwest Research Institute is seeking an experienced avionics hardware engineer to design, analyze, and integrate high-reliability electronic hardware for aerospace applications. You will develop schematics and run detailed power, signal integrity, and transient analyses using PSpice or equivalent tools.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 4–5+ years in schematic development, circuit analysis, and aerospace electronics, with a valid driver’s license

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
  • 5+ years progressive electrical engineering experience in avionics or high-reliability systems preferred.
  • 4+ years schematic development and circuit analysis experience (analog/digital/mixed-signal).
  • 4 years using PSpice/SPICE or equivalent tools for circuit modeling and analysis.
  • 4+ years avionics/aerospace electronics experience with aircraft electrical interfaces and laboratory integration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and integrate avionics hardware, circuit card assemblies, and electrical interfaces.
  • Develop schematics and perform detailed circuit, signal, power distribution, loading, transient analyses using PSpice or equivalent tools.
  • Develop electrical models predicting circuit behavior across operating conditions.
  • Lead hardware troubleshooting, verification, lab integration, and root-cause analysis for analog/digital/mixed-signal systems.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to mature avionics hardware from requirements through qualification.
