Job summary

Collins Aerospace, based in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a Senior Manager, General Engineering to lead avionics software development from requirements through certification. You will supervise a multi-level software engineering team and ensure program performance with strict adherence to processes.

The role requires a strong background in C/C++, real-time embedded systems, and DO-178C certification, with proven leadership of large, complex aerospace projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/EE and 10 years of progressive experience in Aerospace/Defense software.
• Must possess at least 4 years of DO-178C certification experience.
• Must have 4+ years leading avionics software life-cycle activities including requirements, architecture, design, MB development, coding, integration, verification, and testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development activities from detailed requirements development through test and certification.
• Lead a team of Engineers in complex avionics department, including design, test and certification.
• Responsible for program performance for cognizant projects and day-to-day operations.
• Ensure compliance to development processes and standard work requirements.
• Assign technical resources to work tasks; onboard and train new team members; provide coaching.
• Approve work scope for assigned portion of overall program.
• Serve as the primary engineering focal point to customers.
• Address employee performance and development issues.
• Identify necessary staff, facilities and equipment for projects.
• Supervise 16 reports across various Engineering roles.
