Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. in San Carlos, CA is seeking a Senior Avionics Engineer to design, develop, and integrate electrical systems for our data-center satellites, collaborating with software, mechanical, and compute engineers to meet space-grade performance.

The role focuses on power management, FPGA boards, signal processing, CAD and schematic work, and rigorous environmental testing to qualify subsystems for space. A Bachelor's in EE and 5+ years aerospace experience are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 5+ years in electrical design for aerospace or computing systems preferred.
• Experience with LTspice or similar circuit-simulation tools.
• Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes and signal generators.
• CAD experience with Altium or OrCAD.

Responsibilities

• Design and test electrical hardware for satellite subsystems, including compute power.
• Create schematics, PCB designs, and harness diagrams for laser and satellite subsystems.
• Test and debug electrical hardware across environmental conditions.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and thermal engineers for integration.
• Document system requirements, design specs, and test plans.
• Support thermal-vacuum, vibration, and EMI tests for space-qualification.
• Contribute to customer and internal design reviews.
• Keep up with new technologies to improve engineering processes.
