Job summary

Outpost is seeking an experienced avionics engineer to own end-to-end avionics subsystems for Earth-return vehicles. You’ll design architectures, schematics, and PCBs, build or buy decisions, and lead rigorous testing across flight and ground systems.

Role includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, engaging vendors, and contributing to best practices while supporting a mission-driven aerospace program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8+ years in high-reliability electrical hardware design.
  • Experience with PCBs/PCBA, wiring/harnessing, and testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials and extreme thermal environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical architectures, circuits, schematics, and PCB layouts.
  • Design harnesses and oversee harness builds.
  • Make build-vs-buy decisions balancing design, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop and support electrical ground equipment and HITL/FlatSat test setups.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and troubleshoot electronics in spacecraft and ground systems.
  • Interface with external vendors for on-time, quality hardware.
  • Help define avionics team best practices and development processes.
