Job summary

Jobtailor in Baltimore seeks a senior aviation project manager to lead multidisciplinary teams on airport terminals and related facilities. You will coordinate with airport authorities, airlines, TSA, and operations, overseeing scope, budgets, schedules, and QA/QC across design and construction phases.

The role requires 15+ years of aviation project management experience and PE/RA or related credentials; Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of aviation design, program management, project management, or construction-phase experience.
  • Direct senior-level project management experience on at least one major airport facility project >$100M.
  • Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams across architecture, civil, structural, MEP/FP, baggage handling, security, and related areas.
  • Experience coordinating with airport authorities, airlines, TSA, FAA, operations, maintenance, security, and stakeholders.
  • Experience managing design deliverables, construction documents, QA/QC reviews, phasing plans, and schedules.
  • Professional registration such as PE or RA; CCM, PMP, DBIA or similar credentials preferred.
  • Strong design, technical, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary A/E teams on large airport terminal, concourse, baggage handling, passenger processing, landside facility, and aviation buildings.
  • Serve as a client-facing project manager for airport owners, airline stakeholders, TSA, airport operations, maintenance, concessions, security, and code officials.
  • Manage project phasing, impacts, operational continuity, stakeholder coordination, and design decisions in active airports.
  • Oversee scope, fees, schedules, budgets, risks, change management, QA/QC, and construction-phase services.
  • Coordinate architecture, civil, structural, MEP/FP, baggage handling, security, sustainability, cost estimating, scheduling, constructability, and construction administration.
  • Lead issue resolution during design, procurement, and construction, including RFIs, submittals, design clarifications, and change evaluations.
  • Manage contracts and individual projects for commercial aviation clients.
  • Support the firm’s business strategy and financial success.
  • Champion technical quality initiatives, design practice integration, and project process leadership.
  • Manage, hire, and develop design team members; oversee workload and team activities.
  • Communicate client objectives, provide feedback and mentoring, and share lessons learned.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, efficiency, and project changes; enforce QA/QC standards.
  • Ensure client and internal communication and written project documentation; interface with program owners and stakeholders.
  • Verify compliance with applicable design standards; support aviation-related proposal development.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related professional discipline
  • 15+ years of aviation design, program management, project management, or construction-phase experience
  • Direct senior-level project management experience on at least one major airport facility project with construction value greater than $100 million
  • Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams across architecture, civil, structural, MEP/FP, baggage handling, special systems, security, cost estimating, scheduling, and construction-phase support
  • Experience coordinating with airport authorities, airlines, TSA, FAA, operations, maintenance, security, code officials, contractors, construction managers, and other stakeholders
  • Experience managing design deliverables, construction documents, QA/QC reviews, phasing plans, cost estimates, schedules, risk registers, change management, and construction-phase services
  • Professional registration such as PE or RA
  • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, CMAR/CMGC, Design-Build, progressive design-build, or other collaborative delivery models preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • CCM, PMP, DBIA, or similar credentials preferred
  • Strong design, technical, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
