SCB in Chicago seeks a Project Architect to join its aviation practice. You will lead design efforts, develop technical drawings, and coordinate with consultants on complex projects.

Qualifications

• Accredited professional degree in architecture.
• Licensed Architect in the U.S.
• 10+ years post-graduate, full-time working experience in an architectural firm.
• A strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to lead a project including consultants and internal staff.
• Working knowledge of local zoning ordinances and building codes.
• Technical knowledge of building systems, material assemblies, and engineering concepts.
• Capable of performing all construction phase activities including review of shop drawings, RFIs, site visits and BIM coordination meetings.
• Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma and Excel; familiarity with Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Aviation project experience required.

Responsibilities

• Implement project design philosophy and advance the project through design and construction phases.
• Develop design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies with project leaders.
• Organize the work efforts of the project team and coordinate between in-house staff and external consultants.
• Manage time and tasks to meet deadlines, including oversight of junior team members.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including design consultants, contractors, clients and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Lead team meetings and client presentations with multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and train junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner.
• Promote opportunities for new or innovative system applications and improve processes.
