Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Aircraft Interiors Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, modeling, and development of interior structures and mechanisms for ISR and special mission aircraft in Waco, TX. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil Engineering or related technical degree from an accredited university.
• 6+ years of experience in Mechanical/Structural design in an aerospace environment, specifically interiors structures and mechanical systems design.
• Proficient in CAD design tools, preferably NX and Catia, with experience modeling metallic heavy structures and reinforcements.
• Experience with material selection and fastener design, tolerance stack-ups / tolerance analysis.
• Experience with aircraft interior components such as honeycomb panels, seating systems, interior linings, doors, and interior mechanisms.
• Experience with composite materials: carbon fiber, fiberglass, foam cores, etc.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop aircraft interior structures and components, including seating systems, interior panels, doors, partitions, and mechanisms.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (NX preferred).
• Collaborate cross-functionally with structural analysis, electrical engineering, manufacturing and installation teams.
• Perform reverse engineering of existing components using scans, legacy drawings, and measurements.
• Support tolerance analysis, material selection, and fastener design.
• Partner with manufacturing to resolve design issues during production and installation.
