Job summary

The University of Chicago’s BSD BIS Audio Visual Support Service seeks an experienced technician to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain audio-visual systems across classrooms and conference rooms. You will interact with IT services and support staff to restore services and resolve core problems, working both independently and collaboratively with a team.

Preferred candidates have Extron experience, strong multitasking abilities, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years in a related job discipline.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to BSD auditoriums, conference rooms, and classrooms across several BSD buildings.
• Guide end users through troubleshooting procedures.
• Perform upgrades to hardware and software.
• Log work in ticketing system (ServiceNow).
• Intake work via phone, email, ticketing system.
• Maintain and adhere to security standards.
• Research products and systems available in the marketplace and make recommendations to management.
• Provide projection services and presentation support for events.
• May mentor students or train other technicians.
