Job summary

Motional is seeking a Senior Design Release Engineer to own the complete design release, engineering lifecycle, and deployment of developmental vehicle platforms and integration systems from concept to test readiness.

You will drive architecture, requirements, BOMs, and ECN processes while coordinating with Systems, Autonomy, and Vehicle Platform teams to ensure on-time delivery of hardware platforms and pre-production prototypes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years in automotive hardware design, release engineering, or vehicle integration.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary programs to tight timelines.
• Knowledge of vehicle network architectures and packaging.
• Familiarity with CAD/PLM tools and automotive documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design release and build-readiness for developmental hardware.
• Drive platform lifecycle from architecture to sustainment.
• Define development plans and timelines for each platform phase.
• Release engineering docs: drawings, BOMs, specs, test reports.
• Lead PO requests and monitor component availability for builds.
• Manage ECN process with traceability and cost impact analysis.
• Collaborate with Systems, Autonomy, Software Infrastructure, Vehicle Platform teams.
• Lead program reviews and risk mitigation for platform maturity.
• Provide status updates to leadership on milestones and issues.
• Create validation guidelines and bring-up checklists for handoff to operations.
