Job summary

Cochran in Seattle, WA is seeking an AV Field Engineer to verify, test, and commission commercial AV systems from rack builds to client handoff. You will ensure designs meet AVIXA standards and project requirements, working closely with Project Manager, Systems Engineer, and Field Technicians.

The role involves on-site testing, commissioning, and hands-on configuration of DSPs and control systems in conference rooms, training spaces, and large-format environments, with travel in Puget Sound

Qualifications

• Minimum 35 years of hands-on experience in commercial AV integration or commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end testing, configuration, and commissioning of AV systems (audio, video, control, and network).
• Verify system wiring, signal flow, and device configuration per schematics and design drawings.
• Load, test, and modify DSP and control programs (Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, Crestron, etc.).
• Configure and validate IP-addressable devices, ensuring network compliance and stability.
• Conduct sound pressure level (SPL) testing, acoustic optimization, and video calibration.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during startup.
• Document test results, device configurations, and firmware versions for project closeout.
• Support on-site end-user training and provide technical assistance to PMs and service teams.
• Complete system verification checklists, punch lists, and client sign-offs per Cochran QA/QC SOPs.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment (laptops, analyzers, network tools).
• Adhere to Cochran's safety standards and represent the company professionally on-site.
