Job summary

Motional is seeking engineers to design and evaluate autonomous vehicle behavior through robust frameworks, leveraging agile systems engineering and data-driven performance assessment.

You will help scale the AV behavior competencies across simulations and real-world testing, delivering insights and automated analyses to improve safety and performance. Hybrid work is encouraged, with in-office Pittsburgh collaboration or fully remote options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS, Data Science or equivalent
• Experience analyzing simulation and real-world data for robotics/AVs
• Fluency in SQL or similar languages
• Fluency in data visualization techniques
• Experience building Python-based data analysis projects
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-starter with initiative to drive ambiguous tasks to completion

Responsibilities

• Propose behavioral expectations on AV capabilities
• Support standardization of metrics used in performance evaluation for AV capabilities
• Utilize existing metrics and develop new ones for large-scale simulation testing
• Propose and apply statistical targets for metrics using driving data
• Analyze simulation, resimulation and public road testing results for stakeholders
• Deliver strategic insights on scenario-based testing projects
• Create visualizations and templates for team use
• Automate result analysis workflows and reduce manual steps
• Support test strategy development for feature validation
• Communicate test results to development teams and management
