Job summary

Joby Aviation is seeking an Autonomy Staff Software Engineer to design and build AI software for the Superpilot autonomy stack. You will own software solutions for aircraft autonomy across sensing, planning, and perception, collaborating with AI, robotics, and flight software teams.

The role emphasizes real-time, embedded software, end-to-end autonomy software design, and robust data collection and testing for multiple aircraft programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering for autonomous vehicles and real-time embedded systems.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python; experience with devops tools and sensor data processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain autonomy software across the stack from embedded to high-level systems.
• Develop computer vision, ML, and AI algorithms for perception and reasoning in autonomous aircraft.
• Collaborate with teams on integration, flight test, and simulation; optimize for real-time edge compute.
• Evaluate sensing and compute solutions and ensure robust data collection and processing.
