Job summary

The Red Gate Group, located at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Senior Electronics/Computer Hardware Engineer to design and evaluate autonomous hardware, UxS platforms, and edge‑computing nodes for GPS‑denied and hazardous environments.

You will lead electrical architecture, select rugged components, integration of sensor payloads, and ensure compatibility with DoD risk and hazard tools, while guiding a team of engineers and interfacing with DoD partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related STEM field.
• 10+ years of embedded electronics design with DoD/IC experience.
• Expertise in circuit design, PCB layout, and signal integrity.
• Familiarity with hazard prediction toolsets (HPAC/VLSTRACK).
• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python and ROS for embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical architecture design for autonomous systems and ruggedized hardware.
• Design and integrate sensor payloads onto autonomous platforms for subterranean use.
• Ensure telemetry and data streams feed DoD hazard prediction tools.
• Optimize edge‑computing architectures (FPGA/GPU/MCU) for SLAM and navigation.
• Develop and execute hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing in simulated environments.
• Collaborate with T&E teams for field tests at Kirtland AFB and ranges.
• Mentor junior to mid‑level electronics engineers and hardware designers.
• Present architectures and test results to DTRA leadership and partners.
