Job summary

Grease-Monkey in Peoria, IL is seeking an experienced Technician A to perform a wide range of vehicle repairs, from brakes and routine maintenance to engine overhauls. You will diagnose issues, educate customers on maintenance, and assist in training junior technicians.

You will also document work, conduct road tests, and ensure shop safety and organization. A strong mechanical background and ASE certifications are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine tickets, notes and other correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.
• Valid Driver's License and, if applicable in state, State Emission Certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with supervisory direction and factory standards.
• Works on complex repairs and diagnostics, including transmissions, heavy-line repairs and engine overhauls.
• Mentors Technicians B and C on the team.
• Repairs knowledge areas: Brakes, A/C, Transmissions, Power Steering, Suspension, and related systems.
• Diagnoses vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection and documents all work performed.
• Road tests vehicles as needed and ensures safety and compliance.
• Keeps shop clean and organized; maintains tools and manuals.
• Adheres to safety regulations and company SOPs.
