Job summary

RTX is seeking an Automation Systems Engineer in Tucson, AZ to design, develop, and sustain automation solutions for manufacturing. You’ll work on robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, integrating with Ignition and business systems.

You will lead projects, collaborate with teams, and push innovations across Raytheon’s CFIA initiatives. A DoD Secret clearance is required, with interim clearance possible before start date.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or 5+ years with an advanced STEM degree.
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance before start date.
• Experience integrating control systems (actuators, sensors, robotics, vision).
• Experience programming PLC and HMI (Rockwell preferred).
• Experience programming robots (Fanuc preferred).
• Experience delivering medium-to-complex automation projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for automation in assembly, inspection, test, and logistics.
• Document requirements with factory/program stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership to internal or supplier projects.
• Integrate software and hardware to create or upgrade solutions.
• Perform system validation testing for production prove-in.
• Provide troubleshooting support for production systems.
• Contribute to the manufacturing technology strategy.
