Job summary

VERSANT Media seeks a Senior Automation Security Engineer to design scalable automation that strengthens security posture and engineering velocity. You will lead Python-based services, implement secure CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and automate AWS configurations with Terraform.

You will mentor teams, define governance and observability standards, and drive agent-based AI enablement while ensuring safe, auditable automation. This role reports to the Automation Platform Engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong Python software engineering skills with API integration and production troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows and CI/CD controls.
• Strong Terraform experience: modules, state, plans, code review, testing, and policy/guardrail implementation.
• Deep practical understanding of AWS security and cloud architecture (IAM, logging, encryption, serverless/container services).
• Experience designing automation that is reliable, observable, and least-privileged.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reusable Python services, libraries, CLIs, and integrations that automate security controls and workflows.
• Establish engineering standards for reliability, testing, observability, secrets handling, access control, and lifecycle ownership of automations.
• Automate high-value workflows such as identity and access reviews, cloud remediation, evidence collection, and incident response orchestration.
• Own and improve GitHub Actions patterns for secure CI/CD, including reusable workflows and policy checks.
• Design and maintain Terraform modules, guardrails, and policy-as-code controls for AWS environments.
• Develop governed internal AI automations and agents with proper tool scopes and human-in-the-loop approvals.
