Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. clients seek a Sr. Project Engineer to take a project from concept to completion in Milwaukee. You will design custom automated equipment, lead design teams, and manage time, milestones, and budgets while coordinating with customers and suppliers.

You will oversee robotics, vision systems, welding, fixtures, and controls, ensuring product quality and schedule adherence. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• BSME or similar degree with strong mechanical design skills.
• 5+ years of project design experience for fully customized automated production equipment.
• SolidWorks experience.
• Experience with welding, fixture design and GD&T.
• Experience with robotics, vision systems, computer controls, data acquisition desirable.
• Experience working with customers and suppliers desirable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are important.
• Proven success managing or leading large projects to a timeline and schedule is desirable.
• Good computer skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall design of a custom automated machine contracted for by a client.
• Lead a team of Design Engineers and outside design contractors on larger projects.
• Break down the design effort into manageable tasks with timeline and milestones and communicate them to the team.
• Incorporate robotics, vision systems, welding, fixtures, controls, material handling, laser or plasma cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, high-speed product assembly, and packaging.
• Regularly communicate project status to customers and management.
