Lonza seeks an Automation Engineer (OT) to lead and support site-based automation and OT systems in Walkersville, MD. You will manage regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, and lifecycle management across EMS, BAS, PCS, MES/EBR, and LIMS.

The role requires 5+ years in regulated manufacturing or labs, with experience in DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens, and Allen Bradley. Onsite work with travel to satellite sites and 25% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, or related field preferred, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in OT or industrial automation in regulated manufacturing or lab settings.
• Experience with control systems and automation platforms is required.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards such as 21 CFR Part 11, GMP, Annex 11.

Responsibilities

• The Automation Engineer (OT) delivers technical leadership and hands-on support for on-site automation and OT systems.
• Ensure OT infrastructure integrity, reliability, security, and compliance across manufacturing, utilities, QA, and labs.
• Support lifecycle management from design through validation and CAPEX/OPEX projects.
• Support data integrity, cybersecurity, and regulatory readiness per GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and Annex 11.
• Administer OT networks and infrastructure including virtualization, storage, endpoints, IP/VLAN, and network diagrams.
• Program, configure, and support DCS and PLC platforms (DeltaV, Siemens, Allen Bradley).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex OT issues related to hardware, control logic, and network communications.
• Act as SME for Automation/OT during audits and regulatory engagements.
• Collaborate with engineering, IT, and vendors for installation planning and system upgrades.
• Contribute to CAPEX/OPEX projects and site initiatives (e.g., EMS, PCS upgrades).
• Maintain accurate OT asset inventories and support disaster recovery testing.
