Job summary
QB Energy, a Denver-based upstream natural gas company, seeks an Automation and I&E Superintendent for the Piceance Basin. Lead safety-first field operations across instrumentation, electrical, and automation systems, with oversight of technicians and subcontractors in a technically complex portfolio.
The role emphasizes strong leadership, deep technical knowledge across voltages, and successful management of capital and OPEX projects.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive field experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation, and/or automation systems.
- Experience managing field crews and subcontractors as a superintendent or lead.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, arc flash, and OSHA compliance.
- Experience with 230 kV transmission infrastructure and utility-scale substation operations.
- PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Scada Pak).
Responsibilities
- Safety leadership across I&E and automation field activities; uphold safety standards.
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of I&E and automation systems.
- Lead greenfield and brownfield capital projects from design through commissioning.
- Ensure documentation, permits, and compliance with NEC/NFPA/API/OSHA codes.
- Direct supervision of Automation and I&E Foremen; recruit and mentor staff.
