Job summary
Vantedge Medical is seeking a Sr. Manager of Automation Engineering to lead an in‑house team of about nine engineers and technicians at the Wallingford, CT site.
The role owns capital planning for automation, partners with Finance, Operations, and Commercial, and guides the design, build, and validation of automated cells to meet production needs. You will stay technically hands‑on while acting as the senior technical authority for robotics, PLCs, machine vision, fixturing, and material
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
- 10+ years hands-on automation and controls experience (design, build, and implementation).
- Proven people leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience owning automation capital planning; ROI/payback analyses.
- Experience with safety standards in regulated manufacturing (medical device).
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing automation team.
- Own capital planning for automation and manage vendor engagements.
- Serve as interface to Finance, Operations, and site leadership on automation investments.
- Lead design, build, test, and validation of automated cells across facilities.
- Develop and maintain automation standards and safe, compliant practices.
- Balance project workload with a clear forward pipeline and delivery commitments.
