Job summary

TAS Energy Inc. is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to oversee the design, planning, and implementation of advanced industrial automation and control systems.

This role leads projects from concept through commissioning, improving reliability and efficiency while guiding engineers, technicians, and cross-functional partners. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years designing and supporting industrial automation systems.
• Advanced PLC programming with Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or equivalent.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms: FactoryTalk, Ignition, WinCC, Wonderware or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, motor controls, VFDs, servos, robotics, and control panels.
• Proficiency with industrial communication protocols: EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, PROFINET, OPC UA.
• Experience leading automation projects from design through production handoff.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of electrical and machine-safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and commission automation and control systems.
• Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, motion-control, and robotic applications.
• Lead automation projects with requirements, charter, vendor coordination, installation, validation, startup and handoff.
• Troubleshoot complex control-system, instrumentation, electrical, and network issues.
• Identify and implement improvements for safety, reliability, throughput, and quality.
• Develop control narratives, electrical drawings, network diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Integrate automation with manufacturing, enterprise, historian, and data-collection platforms.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, IT, engineering, quality, and external integrators.
• Participate in on-call or after-hours support for critical production systems.
• Any other responsibilities as assigned.
