Job summary

Vesalius Therapeutics seeks an early-career Automation Engineer to scale our programmable biology platform. You will translate workflows into automated workcells, partnering with scientists, IT, and data teams to ensure reliable, traceable data and scalable automation across platforms.

The role blends biology, robotics, software, and data systems, with focus on programming, data handling, and workflow automation. Strong coding and documentation are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s in CS, engineering, bioengineering, automation, robotics, or related field.
• Early career experience in laboratory automation or biotech automation.
• Experience with automated biological workflows.
• Programming in Python and/or C#, Git/version control.
• Strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize high-throughput automated protocols translating biology workflows to integrated workcells.
• Design automation solutions balancing fidelity, throughput, cost, reliability, and lead time.
• Collaborate with scientists on workflow execution, troubleshooting, training.
• Develop automation scripts, scheduling workflows, error handling, monitoring, and instrument-control methods.
• Validate automated workflows against benchtop methods and assess data quality.
• Build integrations between automation platforms, LIMS/ELN, imaging systems, databases, and data pipelines.
• Create SOPs, method documentation, validation reports, troubleshooting guides.
