Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist with an automation and biochemistry background to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of advanced automation technologies to enhance our discovery workflows in addition to developing and deploying biochemical assays. This role requires a strong background in biochemistry, lab automation, experience with integrated robotic platforms, and the ability to collaborate across multiple scientific disciplines.

  • Key Responsibilities:Strategic vision – ensure alignment of automation activities with in the In Vitro Pharmacology group and group level objectives.

  • Explore and implement new automation technologies in collaboration with internal teams and vendors. Schedule and supervise vendor site visits for PMs and other instrument maintenance.

  • Develop and enhance high-throughput automation workflows to support both biochemical and cellular screening activities. Perform troubleshooting as needed on lab instrumentation.

  • Develop a program to maintain and troubleshoot key lab equipment – to include liquid handlers (e.g. Hamilton, Tecan, Echo, Certus), plate readers (Envision, Pherastar) and and Highres integrated platforms operating on Cellario.

  • Design, implement and validate protocols for established biochemical or

  • cellular assays onto robotic systems using Cellario.

  • Train users and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve workflow efficiency and process optimization.

  • Develop and deploy biochemical assay’s to guide programs through generating structure activity relationships (SAR) and hit ID through high-throughput screening (HTS).

  • Qualifications:

  • Extensive background in lab automation and in the design, delivery and operation of integrated robotic platforms.

  • Proven expertise with lab equipment that supports preclinical discovery lab activities (e.g. multimodal plate readers and liquid handlers, cell culture processes)

  • Demonstrated experience in optimizing workflows and improving process efficiency.

  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills, with experience working on interdisciplinary projects.

  • Ability to train and mentor users on laboratory equipment.

  • Eagerness to explore new technologies and work collaboratively with vendors.

  • Experience coding workflows for automated scheduling software and liquid handling systems (for examples Cellario/Momentum/Green Button Go/Venus/Evoware)

  • Experience in the design and development of biochemical assays for small molecule evaluation
