Job summary

Novelis Terre Haute in Indiana is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to ensure equipment and processes meet plant and customer needs. You will evaluate new technologies, optimize process controls, lead troubleshooting, and maintain automation software and drawings.

Responsibilities include improving safety, reliability, and efficiency; providing advanced support for PLCs and mill automation; maintaining backups and disaster recovery plans; collaborating across functions and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical, controls, automation engineering, or a related field.
5–10 years of electrical, controls, or automation engineering in manufacturing.
Experience troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for rolling process control systems.
Knowledge of rolling theory and process fundamentals including ACC and gauge control.
Experience with Level 2 automation systems and software (VB, C, LabVIEW, OpenVMS, etc.).
Familiar with AutoMax, Allen-Bradley, Reliance, or Siemens; CAD drawing updates.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities to improve equipment and process safety and compliance.
Evaluate new technologies to improve quality, reliability, efficiency and cost.
Develop methods to optimize manufacturing processes and equipment performance.
Provide advanced troubleshooting for PLCs, drives, mill automation, motors and power distribution.
Maintain equipment drawings, documentation and system backups.
Lead technical initiatives and support capital projects and reliability plans.
Coach and mentor team members on engineering practices.
